We take in finished records — contracts, drawings, minutes, scanned correspondence — normalise them to open formats, and keep them readable for decades rather than quarters.
Every deposit is checksummed on arrival and again on every integrity sweep. Nothing is stored in a single place, and nothing is stored in a format that needs a licence to open. Where a file arrives in a proprietary container we keep the original untouched and add a rendered copy beside it.
Retrieval is deliberately boring. You get a stable identifier when you deposit, and that identifier keeps working after reorganisations, renames and staff changes. There is no clever URL scheme to learn.
We are not backup for a live system, and we are not a place to park working files. Deposits are treated as final; edits mean a new version, and old versions stay. If you need something that changes hourly, you need a different kind of service.
We moved eleven years of project records across from a system nobody could log into any more. The point was never storage. The point was being able to read them in 2040. Records officer, municipal engineering office
